: Interesting article about amerityre and goodyear developing a new type of airless tyre. My question, only is what will the performance capababilities be, and at what price? Performance will suck :) The article isn't 100% correct. Urethane is not used on the rubber outsole of sneakers; it's in the midsole, the portion between the outsole and the upper. Shoe companies use several kinds of rubber (depending on what activity it's meant for) for the outsole (gum rubber, carbon rubber, DRC, etc). The tires definately won't be seen on autocross cars since you can't adjust the tire pressure :)
